From the mountains of Vermont, Wind that Shakes the Barley presents a tantalizing mixture of traditional music and folklore from the Celtic lands of Ireland, Scotland, Brittany and beyond.
Track 1 - Lough Rask - this song refers to a legend about the Battle of Corcomroe, 1317, in which a fearsome hag rises from the lake to warn the warriers of Clan Brian Rua. Its setting is the Burren on th ewest coast of Ireland.
Track 2 - Three Breton Gavottes - The gavotte is a lively traditional circle dance from the western uplands of Brittany. We have taken a light approach to these lovely tunes.
Track 3 - King's Shilling - An Ian Sinclair song which we have adapted from the singing of Karan Casey. Long after the shine is gone from the shilling given for enlistment and the king's promises of glory have faded, a young soldier faces the harsh realities ofo war and death.
